THE HISTORY OF MAGNOLIA CHAPTER

BLACKS IN GOVERNMENT

 

Approximately 20 years before this group decided to associate with the National Organization of Blacks In Government (BIG), it was known as the Mississippi Black / Minority Employees Organization (MS BMEO). BMEO was founded within the framework of the old USDA Farmers Home Administration (FmHA). The FmHA was reorganized in 1995 with its former employees forming separate agencies known today as USDA Rural Development (RD) and USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA).

 

The Magnolia Chapter was officially formed at the annual Christmas Gala held on December 19, 2003 at the former Holiday Inn SW, on Highway 80, in Jackson MS. Magnolia Chapter charter members included:

The official chapter charter was awarded to Charlie Joiner and Al Taylor at the August 2004, National Delegates Assembly (NDA), in Washington D.C.
